The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) has, for the second consecutive year, been recognised as the top B-school in India in the Central Asia region by the 2009 worldwide business school ranking carried out by Eduniversal, a unit of the French consulting firm SMBG.

IIM-B has added another feather to its cap by being awarded ‘5 Palmes,' the highest recognition under the evaluation titled ‘the Eduniversal Palmes' accorded to “Universal Business Schools with major international influence.” The award, presented on October 26 at the Eduniversal World Convention held in Cape Town (South Africa), positions IIMB amongst the 100 best business schools worldwide.

Deans of the 1,000 top B-schools from 153 countries voted for IIMB with a recommendation rate of 395 per 1,000 votes, followed by IIM Ahmedabad at 345. The Eduniversal Palmes uses a comprehensive methodology that takes into account all the aspects of a business school's influence at three different levels, including recognition through accreditations, memberships and international/regional/local rankings, measuring international awareness through the votes of the 1,000 deans, and suggestions from the members of the International Scientific Committee of Eduniversal.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition as India's top management school,” says Pankaj Chandra, Director, IIMB. “We are making several efforts to enhance the quality of learning and impact of our research.”

The process of the Eduniversal Official Selection involves a global mapping system meeting the criteria of universality and the international reputation of each academic institution. The purpose of the ‘Palmes' is to compare objectively a school of a given country with another one.
