TN varsity translates CM's literary works into English

The English department has translated 10 books authored by Karunanidhi and the university is hoping to get them released by President Pratibha Patil in December or January next, Vice-Chancellor C Swaminathansaid.
The translated books of 85-year old Karunanidhi, known for his Tamil literary works as well as film scripts, include Tholkapiapoonga, Kavithai Mazhai part one, two and three, Sangha Tamizh, Thenpandi Singam, Anarkali (one-act play), Parashakti and Manohara.

On the proposed World Tamil Classical Conference from June 23 here, Swaminathan said the management and principals of affiliated colleges and engineering colleges would meet, under the Chairmanship of Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi to discuss about the contribution of the Education department.

He said a constituent college of the university would start functioning in Coonoor in nearby Nilgiris District from next academic year following an initiative by IT and Communication Minister A. Raja, elected to the Lok Sabha from the hilly district. An initial investment of Rs.three crore would be made for the college coming up on a 10 acre site.

He said the university's 25th convocation would be held on November 24.
