Anticipate changes, management students told

A workshop on Clinical Care Nutrition was organised by the Coimbatore chapter of the Indian Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition at PSG College of Arts and Science.

Dr. Sadasivam, Consultant Oncology Surgeon, GKNM Hospital, delivered the inaugural address on Perioperative Nutrition Support. V.Kavitha, senior dietician, was felicitated for being the first registered dietician of PSG Hospitals.

The activities of the Sankara Management Association for the current academic year was inaugurated by M. Krishna , MD, Dresser Valve India Pvt. Ltd. He explained the rapid changes in the global business environment and pointed out that the response time is limited. Hence, the management students should understand the developments and become adept in anticipating changes, he said. Dr. P. Murugesan, Principal, Sankara Institute of Management Science, and Dr. R. Selvakumaran, Principal, Sankara College of Science and Commerce, spoke.

The Kumaraguru College of Technology conducted a national-level technical symposium –DIGITALK 09 – of the Department of Electronics and Communication and “Matrix 09” of Department of Mechatronics. Dr. Ananth Seshan, CMD, Fifth Generation India Pvt. Ltd, inaugurated it. B.K. Krishnaraja Vanavarayar, Co-chairman, KCT, presided.

Sri Ramakrishna Institute Management Association (SRIMA) organised a workshop on “management at cross roads” at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology for III Year BE – ECE students. Dr. S. V. Devanathan, Director, KCT, conducted a debate between two teams of students on “Value based management versus wealth based management”. He also spoke on “spirituality based management”.

The students of Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology took out a “helmet awareness rally” with the theme - save life, wear helmet. It was flagged-off by Dr. K. A. Chinnaraju, Director of the instutition.

The rally, organised in association with the Coimbatore Cosmo Jaycees, started from the college campus at Narasipuram and ended at the VOC Park.

The Department of Commerce of Sri Krishna college of Arts and Science organised a session on “Retail Banking Technology”. M.A. Srinivasan, Senior Manager of Canara Bank, Perumanallur Branch, spoke on the competition in banking sector and introduction of new technologies like debit and credit cards, mobile and internet banking.

It ended with an interactive session in which students raised a number of queries regarding RTGS, micro finance, foreign exchange, ATMs, etc.
