ISEC signs MoU with Maastricht University, Netherlands

Bangalore: Bangalore-based Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maastricht University, The Netherlands, to promote mutual cooperation in education and research. The agreement focuses on nutrition deficiency, poverty, child and gender dimensions of nutrition and lifestyle-related research, said ISEC Director RS Deshpande.


Both institutions will develop and offer higher education that effectively addresses human resource needs in society, by applying innovative learning methodologies. They will share knowledge, experiences and research results and support each other in further educational development.


Visits by academic staff members will be encouraged for the benefit of both parties. Arrangements will be made for the exchange of visiting scholars for collaboration in teaching and in research.


Under the MoU, all expenses of salary, insurance, travel and living and allied costs will be the responsibility of the visiting scholar’s home university; the host institute or university will provide the normal services for visiting scholars including library and other facilities; and the host institute will assist the visiting scholar in matters of immigration, residence permits or authorisation for temporary stay, healthcare, etc.


ISEC also signed a MoU with Bangalore University for the social science talent search programme. Both institutes will identify talented students pursuing graduation in rural colleges of the State and offer them scholarships; collaborate in academic events, teaching, training and research; and exchange students and members of faculty.
