V-B opens after week of stir

The agitating members softened their stand after the Prime Minister, who is also the Chancellor of Visva-Bharati, promised a probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds by vicechancellor Rajat Kanta Ray.
 
“Pranab Mukherjee has taken up the matter. Moreover, the Prime Minister has assured us of an investigation. We hope the probe will be done within a month. We have called off the strike as of now and teachers will make up for lost days by taking extra classes,” said Kishore Bhattacharya , Adhyapak Sabha president.
 
“We requested Mamata Banerjee for a speedy investigation She has promised to take up the matter with Kapil Sibal,” said Debabrata Sarkar, Karmi Sabha president.
 
Students have started returning to the campus. “This institution has the spirit to overcome all odds and bitter memories. We hope that the impasse will not affect young minds. We are looking forward to celebrating the Poush-Utsav now,” said Amitabha Chowdhury, public relations officer, Visva-Bharati.
