German and Indian engineering universities collaborate

Mumbai: Germany´s Federal Ministry of Education and Research today announced the launch of a project under their two year research campaign with India. The project - pmIndia – “Linking High Potentials” aims at interlinking the scientific - technological cooperation between Germany and India in the field of print and media technology.


“We respect that India is in partnership with us, the print industry here is in its forte. Companies are entering the Indian market on a regular basis which results in plenty of promotion done through the print medium. The technology has developed by leaps and bounds and we are sharing this knowledge and expertise for the future of this industry through top institutions” said Prof Arved Hübler, Head of the Institute for Print and Media Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology.


The project is cooperation between the Institute of Print and Media Technology, Germany and Manipal Institute of Technology, India. These institutes are affiliated to the reputed Chemnitz University of Technology and Manipal University, respectively. Currently, In addition to guest lectures, student and scientist exchange programmes and an Indo-German student workshop, the major highlight of this cooperation is the development and introduction of a joint double degree Master’s programme in printing and media technology.


“The pmIndia – Linking High Potentials project would allow progress with the international research cooperation that allows exchange of knowledge between German engineers, Indian students and teaching staff as well. Collaborative activities in teaching, curricula development and research and technology transfer for subjects related to print and media technology” Said Prof GK Sharma, Head of the Department of Printing and Media Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology at Manipal University.
