Bharathidasan Varsity tops in accessing e-Resources

Tiruchi:  Bharathidasan University is the first among 125 universities in the country in accessing e-resources.

Springerlink, the most comprehensive online collection of scientific, technological and medical journals, books and reference works, stated that the University Library has procured 8,500 Springer e-books on various subjects with perpetual access to enhance the quality of teaching and research activities.

The Springerlink offers more than 2,110 journals, 34,500 books, 1,000 book series, 150 reference works and 19,000 protocols online.

The University library, with a stock of about 95,000 books and back volumes, also subscribes 204 current journals at national and international level as print copies, covering a wide range of subjects of current academic and research literature.

Further, the library has online access to more than 8,000 journals in full text and a few databases of attracting and indexing journals.

Besides providing access to the general public, the library also provides traditional and web-based services to the faculty, scholars and students of the university,

According to S. Srinivasa Raghavan, Chief Librarian and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University, faculties, research scholars and students have downloaded as many as 40, 000 books.

The University makes the best use of technology for academic and research purposes, he said, adding that the library had commenced the initiative of linking the university library with the libraries of affiliated colleges.
