Updated on: Monday, October 19, 2009

Inclusiveness has become a recent buzzword in education circles as institutions and policy makers struggle to provide both quantity and quality, and look for scaleable models of excellence that provide access to all students.

The Confederation of Indian Industry is now encouraging that dialogue with its theme of ‘Quality Education: Scalable with Inclusiveness’ for its annual National Summit on Quality in Education to be held in Chennai on October 23 and 24.

This year’s theme emphasises the need to bring about tangible changes by including all geo-parameters -- social, economic, political, locational, physical and psychological. All disadvantaged sections must be considered. All stakeholders’ vis-À-vis teachers, parents, students and managements need to be encouraged to pursue educational excellence together.

The conference is looking to showcase different models, processes and approaches pursued by academia, industry, NGOs and governmental agencies within India and outside to get to the nucleus of inclusiveness in education. CII
