A Centre for Statistical Training and Consultancy-cum-Laboratory was opened last week at Sri Venkateswara University Department of Statistics. Vice-Chancellor N.Prabhakara Rao inaugurated the centre named after Padma Vibhushan Prof. C.R. Rao.

The centre will play an instrumental role in teaching, research, consultancy and extension. The UGC provided Rs.3.5 lakh to the facility for development of infrastructure under the 11th plan. The centre has been aptly named after the ‘living legend’ C.R. Rao, who has invented 16 most valuable scientific theories of statistics and received 32 honorary doctorates from institutions.
