The outreach programme for the same will begin this year across the eight countries.

The test will be administered by IIT. The seats offered to foreign nationals, however, will be supernumerary in nature, and will not affect the seats available for Indian students, said an official.
The government as well as the IIT are keen on having more foreign students on campus to boost international rankings. It is a great step forward.

Whether or not it will attract students from developed countries is yet to be seen. Like students from India have an opportunity to study abroad, students from other countries should have an opportunity to study in India. It will enhance the international image as well as help improve international relationships.
