HRD Minister Smriti Irani laid foundation Stone for NIT in AP

HRDUnion HRD Minister, Smriti Irani said, the central government decided to invest over Rs 3,030 crore for higher education in Andhra Pradesh.

HRD Minister, Smriti Irani was speaking to reporters after laying the foundation stone of National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district. Rs 300 would be invested in the institute, and the NIT will be temporarily operated in Vasavi Engineering College premises. The NIT will start classes in the last week of August.

The NIT function was attended by Union urban development minister chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y S Chowdary, state ministers, M Venkaiah Naidu, state legislators, MPs and attended the function. HRD Minister, Smriti Irani also suggested to students of NIT Tadepalligudem to help combine technology with agriculture and find new ways of benefiting farmers.

HRD Minister, Smriti Irani said she had laid foundation stones of four institutes of higher learning during the last few months. HRD Minister, Smriti Irani also said about Rs 700 crore would be invested in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Tirupati, where classes have already started.

The HRD Minister also said Rs 870 crore will be invested in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), coming up near Tirupati. The classes at the institute began on August 10. HRD Minister, Smriti Irani said the Centre would also invest Rs.680 crore in Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam. The classes in IIM would begin next month.
