President to sign MOI with Russia for Higher Education

President Pranab Mukherjee is on a four-day official tour to Russia. It is expected that Indian and Russian higher educational institutes will sign a Memorandum of Interest (MoI) for creating a network of higher education institutes, in the presence of President Pranab Mukherjee.

Through this signing of the MoI the foundation for the formation of the Russian-Indian Network of Institutions of Higher Education is also expected to be established. Once formed and established, the network will work towards the consolidation of Russian and Indian research and educational institution's efforts in training of high skilled specialists for the innovation economy, promotion of teachers and students academic exchange programme.

Later in the day President Mukherjee will also be conferred with an honorary Doctorate by the Russian Diplomatic Academy. The President is in Moscow to witness the Victory Day parade, which marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Allied forces in the Second World War.
