Kapil Sibal urges Tamil Nadu to pursue Navodaya scheme

Articulating after the laying the foundation stone for the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Sibal, said that Navodaya Vidyalayas,  schemes to enable rural students have access to quality higher education would help rural students join universities of excellence.
"All States have accepted the scheme, except Tamil Nadu. There has to be a Navodaya school in every district. The center not only wants this to be implemented but also expand it. In fact, the results of Navodaya schools are better than that of Kendriya Vidyalayas," he told reporters later.

Speaking on the grade system introduced for Standard X, he said: "I have done it for the CBSE. I have no jurisdiction over the States. It is for the State governments to decide on following. But I hope and wish

He said Tamil Nadu was moving away from the examination system towards the Rishi Valley model. "Then it cannot adhere to the Class X marks."
