World Ranks for Indian Universities

It is unfortunate that none of the Indian universities is in the global ranking among the worlds top 200.

The QS World University Rankings published on Tuesday provided this information.

Around 11 Indian Institutes are in the top 800 of the global list IIT Delhi is in the highest position, that 222 in the list.

Globally MIT tops the table for second year in a row followed by Harvard and Cambridge.

The best performing countries in terms of number of universities ranked were USA (144), UK (69), Germany (62), France (41), Japan (38).

In India, 5 IIT’s are in the  countries only representations in the top 400.

IIT Delhi is in 212

IIT Ranchi is in 227

IIT  Madras is in  312

IIT Khanpur is in 349

Ranking is based on 4 key thing.

1)      Research

2)      Teaching

3)      Employability

4)      Internationalization

There are 6 indications in methodology.

Academic representation  40%

Employ reputation              10%

Faculty student ratio          20%

Citations per faculty            20%

International studies           5%

International faculty           5%

This took into account 62094 academic and 27957 employ respond.
