Campuses for foreign universities in India

It is announced that the foreign universities can been set up. Campuses in India without collaborating with Indian Institutes and offer degrees.  To effect this it was not possible to get.  Approved form parliament. The Ministry of Human Resource Development took University Grants Commission to allow foreign varsity to operate India.  The Ministry is finalizing the UGC established and operation of campuses of foreign Education Institutions – rules by which foreign universities can set up campuses in India and issue foreign degrees.

 The proposals are sent by HRD to the Department of Industrial Policy and promotion Development of Economic.  Affairs to permit foreign universities.  Open campuses in the country as companies according to the companies Act.  The departments are on the board.

The rules proposed says, Foreign Educational Institutions (FEI) that want to set up a campus in India has to do through an association to be registered as a company under section 25 of the companies Act 1956.

The foreign Educational Institutions must be among 400 universities of the globe as per the ranks published by Times Higher Education, quacquarelli symondser the Academic Ranking of world University by Shangavi  Jiau Tung University. FEI degrees are equivalent to Foreign Degrees and subject to the equivalent of Association of Indian Universities.  The course will be equivalent to that of main campus.  

According to HRD Ministry, 631 FEI’s were operating in 2010. In this, 440 financing from home campuses, 5 in own campuses, 60 in programmable collaboration with local institutes, 49 under twin arrangements and the then twinning programmable  collaboration.
