Graduation in a particular subject, the PG, with B.Ed / M.Ed a person can become a teacher in a particular field.  In their they are eligible to become Asst. Professor in profession.  This is a common procedure. These qualifications have become common and what happens to little lower qualification like diploma in teaching and teacher trainings?

The situation is different in Tamil Nadu now. \

There are 100 sweats for two year Diploma in Teacher Education (D.T.Ed) at District Institute of Education and Training (DTET). But only 70 students are in the course.  The same situation prevails in many Teacher Training Institutes (TTI). Even though the candidates who are applying ro admission is at increase, the number of students joining the course in dealing.

The minimum qualification for D.T.Ed is simply XII Std.  compared to last year there is an increase in the number of candidates applying to DIETs, Government and aided TTI’s, but still, it is obvious there is a clean decline of interest in these courses.

State council of Educational Research and Training candidates the counseling ro the course through the reliable sources, it is clear, 1999 of the 2400 seats at DIET’s, 245 of the 280 seats at Govt TTI’s and 1279 of 2100 seats at Govt Aided TTI’s were filled in July this year.  In self financing Institutes, 5263 seats of around 38000 seats were filled.

The self financing Teacher Training Institute are gradually with drawing themselves from the Institutes.

The lack of employment opportunities is the reason fro the decline in admissions.  More over many D.T.Ed qualified candidates are waiting for jobs for a long time.
