 Wikimedia vibrant in vernacular languages

A study by centre for Internet and society from Bangalore says that the number of Wikimedia entries has grown remarkably in 20 Indian languages. The number of entries grew in the last 8 months.

Wiki is world’s largest online encyclopedia.  In this site any one can write and edit articles and it did not have much content till recently.

From September 2012 to April 2013 Wikimedia Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi have added thousands of new articles on different subjects.

Marathi had 30 lac page views per month and it has another 10 lac visitors. Bengali Wikipedia had 14 lac page views.

In the last 2 years, the demand for knowledge. In India language, has increased.
