UP Govt felicitates teachers

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government today felicitated three teachers, including former Vice Chancellor of Gorakhpur University with Saraswati Samman and six others with Sikshak Shri award.

The awards were presented by Higher Education minister Rakeshdhar Tripathi in a function held at Ram Manohar Lohia Law University here.

Speaking on the occasion, Tripathi said that felicitating teachers was a system to express gratitude for their contribution in the field of academics.

He said that the government had ensured salary as per the recommendation of the sixth pay commission to higher education department teachers and added, 'To extend medical facility to teachers, insurance agencies will be roped in.'

Appreciating city girl Yugratna Srivastava, who delivered a lecture at United Nations, Tripathi announced to felicitate his father Alok Srivastava, a reader at Subhash Chandra Bose Post Graduate College.
