 What happens to RTE in Chennai?

No doubt RTE benefits many students to get admission in popular schools. But the number of students who are not getting the benefit of RTE still remains large. Who so?

According to the official statistics, 4152 seats reserved under RTE Act. In the city excluding CBSE schools. Only 1067 have been filled, which 25.6% percent of seats.

In the Academic year two rounds of admissions were conducted in Tamil Nadu.  In the first round, school were to issue Common Admission Forms fixed by Education Department free of cost from May 3 to May 9.  Schools had to conduct admissions as per the common time table.

Only 6128 students were admitted in entry level classes.

The second round admission happened till June 20.  These admissions were channelized CEO’s concerned.
