Indian Maritime University – Staff Shortage

There are six campases for IndianMaritime Unviersity including Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata but their staff strength of 50% of what supposed to be not less than 7000. Students have been called for a week long counseling session and about 3000 seats were to be filled in the Institutions. The Institutions are lacking in infrastructure facilities also. Diploma in nautical sciences, B.Tech Maritime engineering and B.Sc nautical science, B.Tech Marine Engineering are the popular courses now.

It is a central University comes under the shipping ministry and has 38 maritime institutions affiliated to it. Inspite of the recession of shipping industry, there is an increasing demand for these courses.
