 Recruitment Norms for Teachers

State Government of Tamil Naddu laid new norms to become a teacher in a college a candidate has to clear NET (National Eligibility Test), SLET (State Level Eligibility Test) and they are supposed to have teaching experience after clearing the exam.
This role followed by Teachers Recruitment Board for recording teachers disappointed the candidates who have Ph.D’s with several years of service, but have cleaned NET only recently.
NET was introduced only recently only in 1993 and was expled for many years. Many teachers took the competitive exam later.  Under this structure there service become creative. Why should be likle this?
The new TRB rules allot 9 marks to Ph.D, 5 marks to NET /SLET and 15 marks for experience.
For every year a candidate puts in he /she is given 2 marks, as to has to put atleast 7 years of service to be awarded the full 15 marks. According to the new rules, only the number of years a candidate has put in after taking NET / SLET would count.
But hundreds of candidates with a Ph.D are in the teaching field for more than 20 or 25 years, but cleared. NET a few years ago. Don’t this affect their career? What will happen to their teaching experience which goes in vain by this rule. At this juncture, it is worth to indicate than a teacher who have completed 20 years of continues teaching experience will be awarded only 4 or 6 marking, the simple reason they have cleared NET ony recently.
For many years NET / SLET were not compulsoty and an M.Phil and Ph.D were the eligibility criteria for appointment. Moreover, the new rules disqualify the work experience in self finance colleges.
