KIIT student wins bronze in Seoul

Bhubaneswar: Dillaswar Rao, a student of KIIT, won a bronze medal in Doubles in International Badminton Association for Disabled (IBAD) World Championship 2009, which was held at Seoul, from September 5-12, 2009.


Dillaswar took part in the men’s singles and doubles in the STL-1 category and won the bronze in partnership with N H Khan.


5 out of the 22 teams taking part in the event were selected to play in the doubles. Thailand won gold while the silver medal went to Hong Kong.


Dillaswar is in his third semester at KIIT School of Technology. Badminton Sports Association of India for the Challenged selected him to represent India in this year’s IBAD World Championship.


The student had earlier won the silver medal in the 9th Senior Badminton Championship 2009 for the physically challenged in Bangalore.
