Ranking System in NITs

Updated on: Tuesday, June 25, 2013

In case a student didn't get his seat in IIT, his next option is NIT. (National Institute of Technology)

NIT will release the rank list only on July 7th and so the students are in anxious mood to make their division. Since the new system is slightly complex.

From this year, all technical Institutions except the IIT, will give 60% weightage to JEE(Main). Scores are 40% to XII Marks.

The IIT will take into account only their JEE(Main) and JEE (Advanced) scored.

40% weightage for board exam will further split into two.  20% will be the normalised score of the board, taking ranks into consideration, and the other 20% will be taken from JEE(Main) scores of the particular boards students.

It seems according to the Educationaists point of view, this marking system will be beneficial to students who have scored well in their board examination,

The final merit for JEE(Main) will be released on July 7th, after the results of all 29 school boards, including CBSE.
