BCom (Hons) programme emerges as a popular choice for students taking admission in GGSIPU

The BCom (Hons) programme has emerged as a popular choice for students taking admission in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).

Dilip K Bandyopadhyay, vice-chancellor, GGSIPU, said, "This programme has been modelled along the lines of the chartered accountancy course with an emphasis on the managerial inputs. While studying the programme, students can appear for their preliminary, intermediate and final exams of the CA. Students who don't want to prepare for CA will also benefit from the programme as there are enough inputs through commerce oriented courses." The programme has 840 seats for which the university sold close to 12,000 forms. Giving details about the BCom (Hons) programme, Bandyopadhyay says that study areas will include business mathematics, management accounts, trade, etc.

"Approximately, 12 faculty members will be involved in teaching the programme. Guest lectures will be held and experts will be invited. On an average, the teacher student ratio will be 1:15," he says.

In terms of the programme being taught in the classroom, Bandyopadhyay says that the teaching pedagogy will include case studies, simulations and project exercises for students.

The BCom (Hons) programme will be conducted in affiliated colleges only and not in the Dwarka campus. "We have asked our affiliated col leges to conduct remedial classes for students who do not have a background in maths," says Bandyopadhyay.

The placement facility is there and through the central placements, students can be assisted for internships," he concludes.

The session will begin in the first-week of August.
