Chennai: The counselling for admission into the three year Bachelor of Law degree course in government law colleges will begin on September 25.

To be held at the Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University here, like in the recent past, this year too, the opening day cut-off marks for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Castes (including Arunthathiyar) is higher than that the cut-off marks for candidates belonging to the Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes.

The cut-off is higher for the SC and STs since the number of aspirants belonging to the communities is more leading to tighter competition.

'The cut-off marks for the open category candidates is 66.688% and counselling will be held for them on September 25,' Law University registrar in-charge D Gopal said. This is slightly higher than the cut-off marks fixed for ST candidates.

The counselling for all ST and SC candidates will end on September 29, the counselling for BC including Muslims and MBC will be completed on September 30 and October 1 respectively.

'We are dispatching the call letters to the eligible candidates. Those who do not receive the call letters on time can contact the chairman / coordinator of the BL three years degree course in person for obtaining the duplicate call letter,' Gopal said.

Candidates must bring all the original certificates and the prescribed fee at the time of counselling.

In the event of a tie between candidates, preference will be given to those who are senior in age.
