Lucknow: A headmaster of a government-run primary school in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh has been accused of molesting an employee, police said today.

Virendra Yadav, who is absconding, on Monday allegedly molested the 30-year-old school cook inside the Bidpur Primary School in Mohana town of Siddharthnagar, about 350 km from state capital Lucknow.

According to the victim's complaint, Yadav told her to wait inside the kitchen after school hours as he wanted to discuss the menu under the mid-day meal scheme. She said Yadav also took obscene photos of her through his mobile phone.

"Acting on the complaint registered by the woman, we have initiated an enquiry into the matter," police inspector Vijay Kumar told reporters.

"We have detained some of the family members of the headmaster to ascertain his whereabouts," added Kumar.

Meanwhile, district education authorities have also initiated an enquiry into the matter.

"The matter is serious. I have today (Tuesday) constituted a team to look into the matter. We have assured the cook that stern action would be taken against the guilty," officer in charge of primary education in the district Vinod Rai told media. (IANS)
