Kolkata: Global Reach, the authorised representative of 8 New Zealand universities, organised an education fair on study in New Zealand with Education Times on September 7.

The student response was good especially for the Masters of Business Management programme, which is equivalent to an MBA and designed for students who want to pursue the qualification right after their undergraduate degree.

“Our normal MBAs are quite different- executive MBAs, designed mainly for CEOs which require five years of work experience and GMAT score which students in India did not require. Students who come from science or humanities background can do the Masters of Business Management,” said Farnaaz Mohammed, senior manager, international marketing and recruitment, Massey University.

University of Waikato has also noticed this trend with Indian students. “We introduced Masters of Business Management, a 15-month course where there is no requirement to have the same subject in bachelor degree,” said Brett Muir, international marketing manager.

Victoria University of Wellington- Masters in Professional Accounting programme has recently been approved at this university, starting batch in 2010. “This allows students from a different degree background and gain the industry specified requirement to work as an accountant. It is a three-year Masters degree which can be completed in 16 months,” said Roger Armstrong, marketing and recruitment manager.
