British Councils International School Award accreditation to Toc H Public School

Toc H Public School here has secured the British Council's International School Award (ISA) accreditation for the second time for undertaking and executing projects designed to acquaint students with the global community.

ISA is an international quality benchmark for schools managed by the British Council. The latest award recognises the excellent work the school has been doing to encourage its students to connect and share knowledge and experience with students around the world, said Toc H President Prof P J Joseph. The accreditation, which is valid for three years, was first received in 2008.

Toc H planned and executed nine ISA projects based on internationalism involving the whole school from KG to Std 12 during the last academic year (2012-13).

The activities included a study on the after effects of air pollution, strengthening relationships with the global community, a comparative study of the postal system in India and England, bringing the world into classrooms and awareness creation on AIDS epidemic.

Prof Joseph said ISA has been a significant milestone for Toc H and has helped its students to become junior ambassadors for the country - conscious of their own culture, appreciative of the cultural differences and actively involved in the cultural dialogue and exchange of views with students in other countries.

The award will be formally presented to the school at a ceremony to be held in Kolkata in November.
