Second batch of graduates from IIM-Ranchi bag lucrative offers

The second batch of students graduating from the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R) has bagged lucrative jobs with eight graduates getting positions abroad.

The highest international package offered to one of them was of Rs 24 lakh per annum. There were as many as 55 recruiters for a batch of 67 students.

The highest domestic pay package offered to one student was Rs 19 lakh by a financial firm. The average package offered to the students was Rs 12.40 lakh. The minimum offer made in the process was Rs 7.5 lakh per annum, a placement report from the premier institute said on Thursday.

The placements were made across all streams including general management, human resources, business consulting and analysis, financial services, marketing, sales, IT consultancy, retail product banking, corporate banking and other sectors.

Among the prominent recruiters were HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, ICICI, Yes Bank, Tata Steel, Maruti, HT Media and Pidilite.

Two students had opted out of the final placement process. One of the students went on to pursue higher studies and the other decided to make his mark in the business world by starting his own venture. All students have been successfully placed.

Sunny Sumanshu, senior placement committee member, said, "The feedback from the industry was positive and despite continuing uncertainty in the employment market we have been able to make a mark."

"The institute is fast adapting to the way we work to foster relationships with recruiters and increase brand awareness nationally as well as internationally to ensure that our graduates are offered the best opportunities in the corporate world," said an official.

IIM Ranchi director M J Xavier said, "The institute has been making efforts to absorb only the best students. It has worked well and our placement records have been encouraging."
