Five more Universities join Future Learn the first free and online platform for courses

On May 6, the first free and online platform for courses, from multiple universities in the UK and other leading organizations has announced further five partners. These include the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde and the British Museum. The new partners are joining Future Learn, which was launched in December 2012 and offers several engaging courses online. It includes several universities, the British Council and also the British Library.


In the programme, University of Glasgow will initially offer two courses that are drawn from its reputed academic provision. Strathclyde will be offering two or more courses over the first six months. An Introduction to Forensic Science will be the first in line, followed by other academic courses. Simon Nelson, CEO, Future Learn, said, "We are delighted that more of UK's leading universities along with one of its most popular cultural institutions have agreed to work with Future Learn. We are committed to remove the barriers in education by making learning more accessible and useful to people. These partnerships will enable us to open new forms of social learning at a large scale."


FutureLearn.com will offer free and accessible courses to people all over the world. Courses will be created by the Universities of Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Anglia, Exeter, Glasgow, Leicester, Loughborough, King's College London, Lancaster, Leeds, Nottingham, The Open University, Queen's Belfast, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton, St Andrews, Strathclyde and Warwick.  In addition, the British Museum, British Library and British Council have all signed MoUs to share content and their expertise and collaborate in the development of courses through FutureLearn.com.
