Pro-Vice Channcellor of the Kolhan University Dr. Shukla Mahanty said that it would introduce the National Assessment and accredition Council (NAAC) assessment for colleges under the institution to improve the quality of higher education in tribal-dominated region.

Mohanty, who recently joined as Pro-VC and herself a member of NAAC and National Council of Educational and Research Training (Eastern Regional Committee), said as Kolhan was an extremely backward area she would introduce distance education to enable tribals seek higher studies, set up Central Library facility and publication of results within a timeframe.

Besides, a placement cell in the university would be a priority in enabling students of the area to expose themselves to the outside world with employment opportunities, Mohanty said.

Mohanty was the Principal of Jamshedpur Women's college before she was promoted as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University by Jharkhand Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities a fortnight ago.
