Four students of TCE get a patent for their project

Four students from the private Tamil Nadu College of Engineering (TCE) here claimed they have got a patent for their project, a 'six stroke water cooled Internal Combustion Petrol Engine'.

The project ensures less fuel consumption, less emission and more power than the conventional engine, the students G Prakash, R Mugunthan, J Vasanthkumar and P R Devakumarclaimed in a TCE release.

This engine has two compressions and two power stroke, the release said.

In this engine, high-octane fuels are preferred because higher engine efficiencies can be attained with these fuels. Higher efficiencies mean less fuel consumption and lower atmospheric emissions per unit of work produced by the engine, the release claimed.

The engine is meant to be used in four-wheelers and they secured the patent from the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Mark in March this year.
