IIM-Tiruchi makes a successful placement of all its registered students

The Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchi has placed all the students in its first batch. As many as 59 companies made 76 offers to pick up all 74 students who had registered for the placement process. The institute started the process with five pre-placement offers.

A release from the institute said that, "Notwithstanding the difficult economic environment, IIM-T had a successful final placement process for the 2011-13 batch." The average annual compensation offered was Rs10.92 lakh, while the maximum compensation was offered for an operations job at Rs 18.25 lakh and the minimum salary package stood at Rs 6.04 lakh.

IIM-T officials said marketing emerged as the institute's forte with 32% of the offers coming from this functional area. Marketing offers spanned various sectors including FMCG, infrastructure, healthcare and BFSI, with Ranbaxy, Dr Reddy's Lab, Berger Paints, HPCL and BPCL recruiting many of the students in this area.

ICICI Bank, YES Bank, Indian Bank, Indus Valley Partners, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Power, Citrus Payments and IFMR were some of the prominent recruiters in finance. ICICI Bank and YES Bank offered Corporate Banking, Kotak Mahindra Bank offered wealth management portfolios. Other profiles offered included corporate finance, rural finance, risk management and project finance.

Cognizant Business Consulting and KPMG recruited a majority of the students in consulting and analytics, placing them in diverse verticals like manufacturing, BFSI, retail and IT consulting. Flextronics, Vernalis and IQR Consulting offered business analytics profiles.

Chairman of placement and external relations at IIM-T Godwin Tennyson said the significant percentage of students with work experience in information technology helped attract several companies for this function. Ameex Technologies, Wipro, Common Floor, Meritus Global, Thinksoft and CSS Corp visited the campus to recruit students for roles such as program manager, business development, business process consultant and business analyst.

Students interested in HR profiles were offered roles such as performance management, employee engagement and recruitment. Perfint Healthcare, Tata Power and Hunt Partners were the prominent recruiters in this function. Mahindra & Mahindra and Kellogg recruited students for roles in supply chain management.

Tennyson said the students had a good mix of profiles to choose from. Niche roles like CXO recruitment consulting, and executive assistant to CEO were also offered to the students. Six students opted out of the placement process to pursue specific interests in niche sectors or roles such as dental healthcare management and product management. Prominent recruiters like Cognizant Business Consulting, KPMG, Perfint Healthcare, BPCL, Indian Bank and Berger Paints recruited four or more students each, IIM-T officials said.
