The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), DAVV, has come up with a unique idea of exposing students on live projects while studying. The institute has formed an internal organization IET Incubation Center where students will work on such projects, so that they can learn new technologies, interact with market, co-ordinate and apply classroom theoretical knowledge to practical and commercial applications.

The center will aim at fostering and nurturing one's technical and managerial skill before taking leap in the industry atmosphere. Dr Sanjeev Tokekar, IET director said, "The center which proposes to do commercial projects for the industry has already completed various projects in different fields but at smaller level. The students work as managers, designers, developers and technical writers to deliver the work. Students are working currently on technologies like web designing using PHP and JSP, database software using Java, creating online portals and websites."

Punit Kala, a fourth year engineering student of the institute, said, "We will work on new technologies rather than working age old concepts. We have earlier worked for few NGOs and for our institute. But, now we are looking forward to do industry projects." Some students have developed an Android application while some have developed a security algorithm that can be of great use for data security, he added. The center had recently worked with the IT centre of DAVV university and provided solutions to them for managing the users account and the data associated with it.

Pratosh Bansal, one of the faculty members of the institute said, "Before getting involved in any of the projects students have to clear a written test then both technical and HR interview. Students also have to survive in the competitive environment and if found unproductive they will be terminated." The center is looking forward to make students meet directly with the industry so that they can closely watch the process and modify themselves according to the current need of the industry, he said adding that a brochure will be prepared to seek project work from industry.
