One-year time span will be given to private schools in Haryana to fulfil prescribed norms to become eligible for recognition, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said.

"Such (private) schools will have to submit affidavits that they will fulfil prescribed norms within a year for becoming eligible for recognition," he said presiding over a meeting of the Private Schools Welfare Association here.

However, the schools not fulfilling prescribed norms under the Right to Education Act will not be closed and will continue the admission process, Hooda said.

The state government has already reduced the passenger tax applicable to school buses, the Chief Minister said.

A notification in this regard will soon be issued by the Transport Department, he said.

Director, Secondary Education, Vikas Yadav told the meeting that as many as 2652 schools have already submitted required documents for getting recognition.

Out of this, 550 schools have been given recognition, he said.
