Kurukshetra University derecognizes SreeKrishana Institute of Engineering and Technology

Two months after five persons, including two officials of the Kurukshetra University, were booked in a case of academic fraud, the KU has derecognizedSreeKrishana Institute of Engineering and Technology (SKIET).


Thousands of students studying at the institute in various courses, including BTech, MTech, BBA and MBA, will be shifted to another college run by the KU, said officials.

On Wednesday, the college officially received the notice, derecognizing the college. A committee constituted by the university had found gross irregularities in the functioning of the college.

The committee had also found irregularities regarding payment of salary to teaching and non-teaching staff.

DDS Sandhu, vice-chancellor of the university, said, "We have disaffiliated SKIET from Kurukshetra University as a number of violations were detected in the college."

Earlier, five persons were booked for running a course, which had not been given affiliation by the KU.
