Minister of higher and technical education Rajesh Tope said that industrialist Mukesh Ambani was ready to set up an institute along the lines of Harvard University in Maharashtra. The minister was speaking at the second convocation event of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga (earlier known as UDCT), where he was the guest of honour and Ambani was the chief guest.

Tope said, "The chief guest said he would set up a replica of Harvard University. He is ready with the infrastructure for 22 departments. The university will come up only when the Private Universities Bill (Self-Finance Universities' Bill) is passed."

He said the bill has already been tabled in the assembly but is facing issues about reservation. He was, however, optimistic that the act will be implemented soon. Tope added that the state would allot land for the expansion of ICT to set up the satellite campus.
