A large section of the district administrative machinery has been deployed for the smooth conduct of the UP Board examinations. Given the massive numbers of students, 69 sector magistrates have been put on duty.

Right from SDMs, officials up to the rank of tehsildar and block development have been roped in for the UP Board examinations. In Allahabad alone, about 2,45,412 students -- 1,34,178 in high school and 1,11,234 in intermediate -- are appearing in the board examinations from 431 centres.

District magistrate Rajshekhar said centres would be sealed during examination hours by sector magistrates while centre in charges would ban the entry of unauthorised persons during this period within a periphery of 200 metres of the centres. Besides, photostat shops within a radius of 100 metres of the examination centres would also remain closed. These steps, DM said, would help to check mass copying.

The DM also warned of action against centre in charge and invigilators if mass copying is reported at centres which have been declared sensitive by the UP Board and district administration.

Likewise sector magistrates would also be held accountable for incidents of copying/mass copying outside examination centres.

Examinees would be frisked before entry at examination centres and no study material in the form of text books, guide would be allowed to be taken inside the centre.

Giving signals of cracking the whip against use of muscle power in the examination, Rajshekhar said legal action, including imprisonment, would follow in case any person is found indulging in violent incident and intimidating centre in charges and invigilators.
