Charges levelled against the present chairman of TNPSC by a member to be probed

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission informed Madras High Court that the state government has asked the Secretary to give a fact finding report on charges levelled against the present chairman R Nataraj by a member.

When a writ filed against Nataraj came up for hearing, C N G Niraimathi, standing counsel for TNPSC gave a letter from the Secretary which said, ".. I have been asked to give a fact finding report on the allegations leveled against the fourth respondent (R Nataraj) by the petitioner to His Excellency, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, by the Principal Secretary, P&AR Department."

Her submission was recorded.

Justice S Rajeswaran ordered issuing of private notice to R Nataraj and posted the matter for March 14.

M Ramasamy, who served as a member of the TNPSC between May 2006 and May 2012, in his petition, alleged certain irregularities by the present chairman Nataraj.

He further claimed that Deputy Secretary to Raj Bhawan had forwarded the petitioner's representation with allegations to Principal Secretary of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department and a copy of it was communicated to him on Febuary 25 last.

He also claimed that to have made a representation to Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department to initiate action immediately, as Nataraj was to retire on March 12.

He alleged that no action has been taken so far, in connection with his representation.

Ramasamy also prayed for a direction to state Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department to conduct an enquiry in terms of the letter issued by the Governor's Deputy Secretary, in pursuant to hisd complaint dated December 27.
