Around 200 cheating cases were registered in the state during the general English and Hindi examinations of class XII state board exams held on Tuesday. Also, four fake students were caught writing the exam in Morena.

While maximum number of cases related to use of unfair means (UFM) in exams were reported from Bhind (44), the neighbouring Morena came a close second with 37 cheating cases. Gwalior reported 18 cases while Balaghat, Narsinghpur and Dhar had 17, 12 and 11 cases respectively. Nine cases were reported at Betul while Shahdol, Sehore and Shivpuri had eight, six and five cases respectively.

Also four fake students were caught at Porsa and Banmore villages in Morena district. Meanwhile at New Era exam centre, Dewas, a student who was caught cheating ran away with the answer sheet. His exam would be cancelled, officials said.

Students also complained that question no 7, 8 and 12 carrying 18 marks were incorrect in the English paper. Sources said that Board of Secondary Education, MP (MPBSE) has confirmed the same.

Sources added that despite flying squads being constituted by the district education officer, joint director and MPBSE in the Bhopal division, hardly any cases of cheating have come to their notice. Also the SDM and tehsildars who are a part of the teams are not turning up for inspection of the centres, sources added.
