MOU for collaborative research on artificial hearts signed between Aston Univeristy UK and VPM Polytechnic

 The Vidya Prasarak Mandal's Polytechnic in Thane has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaborative research on artificial hearts with United Kingdom's Aston Univeristy, VPM sources said here.

VPM Chairman Vijay V Bedekar told PTI that in May 2012, Aston University's former Head of the Department Geoff Tansley visited VPM's Polytechnic at Thane and its Maharshi Parshuram College of Engineering, Velneshwar, to explore the feasibility of collaboration.Successful discussions with him and Principal D K Nayak, led to the signing of an MoU for collaborative research.

Aston University's Principal Investigator and Lecturer ark Prince visited VPM's Polytechnic at Thane in October 2012 to finalise the MoU and discuss project plans.

VPM Polytechnic's Head of the Department of Industrial Electronics Kirti Agashe is the Indian Principal Investigator, while its lecturer.

As per the MoU, Kirti Agashe and Omkar Joshi, visited Aston University to discuss the project progress and to conduct experiments there during January-February 2013, sources said.
