BHU ranks first in the country in the field of academic and research output

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) ranks first in the country in the field of academic and research output as per Scopus and Web of Science database.

BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh said that Scopus is the world's largest abstract and citation database of literature with smart tools that track, analyze and visualize research. The Scopus (December 2012) database analysis revealed that BHU is top university in India, followed by University of Delhi and Jadavpur University. The research publications of BHU are the highest in number among all Indian universities. The analysis showed that BHU had 20,251 research publications while the University of Delhi had 17,800, Jadavpur University 13,569, University of Calcutta 12,200 and Anna University 9,673 research publications.

The Web of Science database showed that BHU faculty members contributed to the knowledge via global publications. The web of science covers journals of high impact factor. In this database, BHU had over 19,200 articles from 1970 to 2012.
