Delhi HC asks the city government to expedite the recruitment process of special educators

The Delhi High Court asked the city government to comply with its earlier order and complete the recruitment process of 3,000 special educators in schools run by the government and civic agencies here.

Justice G S Sistani accepted the submission of Counsel for the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) that the recruitment was delayed as a division bench of the HC had scrapped the recruitment advertisement in June last year and a fresh advertisement has been released for MCD.

To this, the court asked the DSSSB to release the fresh advertisement in respect of Delhi government schools within 15 days and also asked to hold the examination in April, 2013.

The court said dssiers should be sent to the user- departments within three months after the examination and the user-department shall process the same and make recruitments within two months thereafter.

The court was hearing a contempt plea, filed by advocate Ashok Agarwal, against the concerned officials of Delhi government for non-compliance of a division bench's September 16, 2009, order to recruit special educators in the schools.

The bench had directed the appointment of special educators in every school run by Delhi Government or MCD/NDMC/Cantonment board within six months.

The petitioner counsel contended the authorities have failed to comply with the order and shown "scant regard" to the directions of the court.
