Chhattissgarh HC directs state PSC to re-evaluate answer sheets of five candidates

Chhattisgarh High Court has directed the state public service commission to re-evaluate answer sheets of five candidates having appeared for 2008 civil services (mains) examination.

The petitioners had challenged the selection process on the ground that the key model answers provided by the Commission had many mistakes.

Lawyer Parag Kotecha, representing one of the petitioners said, "A single judge bench of Justice Satish Agnihotri directed Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission to re-evaluate answers of petitioners by a high power committee and asked CGPSC to call them for interview on the basis of marks obtained by them."

The court issued the order during the final hearing.

The petitions were filed by Premprakash Sinha, Anand Kashyap and others seeking stay on the selection process of candidates appearing for interview, citing mistakes in model answers published by CGPSC, Kotecha said.

CGPSC had conducted examination for state civil services in February 2008.

After the mains examination, CGPSC uploaded the model answers on its official website to enable aspiring candidates to tally their scores.

"The petitioners came across many discrepancies in model answers key for subjects of Public Administration and General Studies, besides History and other subjects," Kotecha said.

Subsequently, the candidates moved HC challenging the selection process based on the model answers provided by CGPSC.
