Rajasthan Public Service Commission to introduce fresh exam pattern

Updated on: Friday, January 25, 2013

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission will now have a fresh exam pattern for selecting candidates. The age-old system of examination will be replaced by a three tier examination for candidates to qualify as state administrative officer. Interestingly, the candidate will now have to know the customs of Rajasthan tribes and be aware of local dialects.

Subjects like general awareness and knowledge will play an important role in the RAS examination with the candidates required to be logical with presence of mind.

Ladu Lal Jain, deputy secretary of commission, said, "A workshop will be organized on Thursday for the final nod to the new RAS syllabus, in which about 80 subject specialists will participate and finalize the weightage of marks."

Earlier, the formula used to be simple — clear preliminary exam with two objective type papers including general knowledge and an optional subject. Those who clear the initial round, start working on four optional subjects, English and general awareness. The final stage is the al-crucial interview.

But now, the pattern has changed. More emphasis will be given to knowledge of state and general awareness. "There will be questions on attitude, mental reasoning and logic," said a specialist. The new pattern is expected to begin from this year, for RAS exam-2013.
