School students render helping hand to poor children

Tiruchi: The students of St. James Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the city distributed free uniforms to children belonging to the weaker sections residing in Thuvakudimalai South near here.

A function in this connection was organised by the Cardijn Alternative and Rural Development (CAARD) Trust.

Rev. Fr. A. Suresh, Principal and Correspondent of the school presided over the function and distributed uniforms to 87 poor students, studying in different schools.

Fr. Suresh said that the objective of the project was not only to encourage the poor students to enhance their learning ability, but also the create awareness among the students to help the needy especially in education. He stressed that education was the way for prosperity and better future too.

V. Pankiraj, president, CAARD Trust, praised the gesture of the students of the St. James HSS to come forward to meet the needy students of the marginalised families to extend their support.

The students presented cultural programmes highlighting the importance of higher education and on other social themes.
