Dr Chandra Krishnamoorthy to take charge as new VC of pondichery university

Pondicherry University is all set to get its first woman Vice-Chancellor with the Union Human Resource and Development Ministry announcing the appointment of Dr Chandra Krishnamoorthy to the post.
 
Krishnamoorthy, presently Vice-Chancellor of the National Law University in Orissa, would assume charge of the new assignment in the first week of next month, official sources said.
 
Incumbent Dr J A K Tareen is demitting office on February 1. This is the first time that a woman vice-chancellor is being appointed to the central university established through an Act of Parliament in 1985. Krishnamoorthy will be the sixth Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University.
