Six Tamil scholars honoured by the President

Six Tamil scholars were honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee for their contribution to the 'classical Tamil' for 2008-09.
 
C Govindarajanar from Tamil Nadu was presented the 'Tolkappiyar Award' and Francois Gros from France was honoured with Kural Pitam Award (Foreigner).
 
The Young Scholar Award was won by A Lakshmi Duttai from Puducherry, S Madhavan, M Ramakrishnan and S Sentamizhpavai – all from Tamil Nadu.
 
The Awards have been instituted by the HRD Ministry. HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju and MoS HRD Jitin Prasada were present on the occasion.
