The Calicut University has become part of the Indian Electronics Theses Repository project of the UGC.

The project, which will be implemented at the CH Mohammed Koya Library, would provide students access to research works and dissertations published by universities across the country through the Inflibnet (Information and Library network).

As many as 30 universities from across the country have been selected for grants under the first phase of the project.

The varsity has already hosted 250 PhD theses online through the Shodhganga project of Inflibnet. The UGC grant will be utilized to digitize the remaining 2,500 research thesis.

Apart from enhancing the quality of research and providing open access to publicly-funded research, the project would help researchers avoid the pitfalls of conducting research on a same topic. It also intends to facilitate open access to doctoral theses and dissertation to the academic community world-wide.

Online availability of electronic theses through centrally-maintained digital repositories will ensure easy access and archiving of doctoral theses.
