Odisha government to frame a career advancement policy for nearly 23,000 primary teachers

R N Nanda, School and Mass Education minister, government of Odisha announced framing of a career advancement policy for nearly 23,000 primary school teachers posted under Gana-Sikshyak category in the assembly tonight.
   
"The primary school teachers, working under Ganasikshyak category for six years and having required training, will be made the regular teachers," Nanda said.
 
Referring to the agitation by teachers, Nanda said a career advancement policy will be announced within two months. In future, these 'Ganasikshyaks' will be given regular posting under Zilla Parishads, the minister said.
 
Welcoming the government's decision, the State Ganasikshyak Mahasangha announced withdrawal of its statewide agitation. "Our teacher brothers and sisters will join in school," Mahasangha General Secretary Bulu Behera said.
